The Anaheim Convention Center, owned and operated by the City of Anaheim, is the largest exhibition facility on the West Coast of the United States.
The original structure, located just across the street from Disneyland Resort on Katella Avenue in downtown Anaheim, was designed by Adrian Wilson & Associates and built by the Del E. Webb Corporation. It opened in July of 1967.
According to the City of Anaheim, the convention center hosts approximately 300 events each year, consisting of trade shows, conventions, corporate events, consumer shows, meetings, social functions and banquets, and welcomes more than 1 million visitors every year.
2016 Expansion and Betterment
Work began in 2016 on the largest and most significant expansion of the ACC in nearly two decades – ACC North.
The expansion added 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, allowing for a wider variety of events to occur under one roof in one of the nation’s premier convention destinations.
According to Exhibitor Magazine, “the ACC North’s design enables today’s meeting professionals to craft a truly customizable experience for attendees including, education sessions, workshops, galas, marketplace connections and networking events.”
US Steel Stairs is proud to have been able to provide detail and engineering work for this amazing project. Our focus was on several key features in the expansion project. We designed all the stairs in ACC North, including the parking garage and the interior exit stairs, the towers in the parking garage, exterior ramp railings, the grand staircase and floating stairs.
These were no small projects. We needed to design and engineer 10-foot-wide, poured, terrazzo stairs that would float against and cantilever off the wall.
The expansion project brings the total square footage of the ACC to 1.8 million square feet and here at US Steel Stairs we take a great deal of pride in being able to say we played a part in the creation of this spectacular convention center.
